Good Cycling Facility of the Week: 7th December 2017

This week's Good Facility is the motor traffic-free city centre of 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands. 

The streets in the core of the city are entirely pedestrianised, but with cycling allowed at all times. Rising bollards (as shown in the photograph) can be lowered to allow loading by motor traffic at certain times of the day.

Although this street is pedestrianised, cycle flow is stil hinted at by a (flush) distinction between paved footways at the side and a brick strip in the middle. 

The final detail is the street lighting, which is suspended from the buildings, meaning that the street itself is free from the clutter of lampposts.
