This week's Good Cycling Facility is a new cycle street in the Dutch city of Delft.
This street has been substantially transformed in the last year, as can be seen from the 2017 version on Streetview. The street has been narrowed and relaid with smooth red asphalt (to indicate a cycle route), the footway has been rebuit, and trees and planting have been added between the road and the footway.
The crucial detail that makes this cycle street such an attractive place to cycle is the near-total absence of motor traffic. Access to properties via motor vehicle is still permitted; however, this street is only a useful through-route for cycle traffic.
