This week's Good Cycling Facility is a protected cycleway with parallel continuous footways, running across a side road junction in the London borough of Waltham Forest.
Previously this junction only had a painted lane for cycling with no physical separation from motor traffic. Pedestrians also had to step into the road to cross the junction, via an indirect route. The footway is now a straight line, on the desire line, with priority over motor traffic.
This is a good example of how designing well for walking and cycling can go hand-in-hand!
