This week's Good Facility is a 'floating' bus stop, or bus stop bypass - a design that removes interactions between buses and cycling, improving the efficiency of the bus network and removing inconvenience and danger for people cycling.
This bypass is located in Brighton, on a busy road, and by a supermarket (Sainsbury's). The bypass is visually distinct from the footway, in black asphalt, and has vertical distinction too, in the form of low-level kerbs. The bus shelter is transparent, meaning it is easy for people walking and cycling to see each other.
The final detail is a 'free' left turn for people cycling, in the foreground. They can bypass the traffic signals at the junction, just to the right of the photograph, without having to wait.
