This week's Good Facility is a bi-directional cycleway on the Hogeweidebrug in Utrecht.
The bridge was opened in 2008, and the cycling infrastructure is an integral part of its design, well-separated from the motor traffic that also uses this bridge.
The cycleway is wide enough to accommodate side-by-side cycling in both directions. Pedestrians have a footway, separating them from people cycling.
This is an important connection for the city, spanning the large Amsterdam-Rhine canal, and connecting the city centre with the new development of Leidsche Rijn. An additional bridge, specifically for walking and cycling, is currently under construction.
