Good Cycling Facility of the Week: 19th September 2019

This week's Good Cycling Facility is a protected cycleway running alongside a Dutch A-road, entering the town of Oudewater in the Netherlands.

At this transition from an 80kph (50mph) to a 50kph (30mph) limit on entry to the town, drivers are forced to navigate a tight chicane, which acts to physically reduce their speed to the appropriate 50kph limit. The cycleway remains kerb protected, before, during and after this speed limit change.
