This week's Good Facility is a bus stop bypass on Blackfriars Road in London. The cycleway runs between a 'floating' bus stop and the footway, ensuring that buses and people cycling do not come into conflict with one another.
This bus stop has a zebra crossing to allow pedestrians to cross - with priority - to the stop. Changes to the 2016 TSRGD now allow formal crossings of this type to be installed on cycleways without the Belisha beacons, or with the zig-zag markings, as in this example. This simplifies the design, and reduces clutter - and costs! - while retaining the essential functional element of the crossing.
