Good Cycling Facility of the Week: 10th January 2019

This week's Good Cycling Facility is at the Vaartsche Rijn railway station, to the south of the Dutch city of Utrecht.

This railway station is brand-new, only opening in 2016. As part of the development this wide, open underpass for walking and cycling was included, providing a connection under the railway line that is not available to motor traffic, as well as providing easy access to the train platforms. The cycleway is wide and clearly separated from pedestrian areas. The underpass is well-lit.

The station has secure cycle parking facilities, free for 24 hours.
