Not exciting, not glamorous - but essential.
This week we are featuring a standard piece of infrastructure that is very common in the Netherlands; a cycle track alongside a major through road.
These tracks allow ordinary people to make trips from villages to towns, and from towns to cities, in complete comfort, without having to interact with motor traffic. This example is between De Lier, and Delft, along the N223 (equivalent to an 'A' road in Britain).
Note that these tracks are bi-directional on both sides of the road, meaning that the road does not have to be crossed to cycle along it, in either direction. They are also wide, suitable for safe sharing with anyone walking (or jogging, in this example!).
