Australian Survey

says it all really:

http://www.cyclingpromotion.com.au/images/stories/MediaReleaseDocs/Cycli...

60% of people who don’t currently ride a bike for transport would like to do so

67% of people who do ride bikes cite unsafe roads for not doing so more often, as do half of those who don’t ride but would like to

84% of all respondents agreed that paved cycle tracks parallel to roads would encourage them to use their bikes more (64% for bike lanes)

I wonder what reasons Dutch non-cyclists give for not cycling more?

IIRC, the rate of cycling in the Netherlands is lowest amongst immigrant communities where they may not have learned to ride as children or there may be prejudice against women cycling.
