I was contacted by someone on Twitter who liked the manifesto, read on Lazy Bicycle Blog. He raised an issue with the bit about bike hire schemes, which I attempted to clarify as being that bike hire schemes are of limited value without infrastructure to back them up, that they are often used at present as a distraction from the fact that little else is being done for cyclists. When we have the infrastructure, bike hire schemes would be of great value, it might be a good idea to clarify the Embassy’s views on the issue of bike shares, the London scheme is well liked and has potential to “normalise” cycling again if backed up with appropriate infrastructure.
